Recipe: Lotus Root Cooler

This formula is very good for detoxifying the liver and balancing “excess fire energy” It cools the blood, calms the nerves, and refrigerates the system in excessively hot weather.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large lotus root (available at Asian markets)

  • Monk Fruit, Raw sugar or barley malt, according to taste

  • 4 cups water

Cut the lotus root into 1-inch lengths. Put the lotus root sections and sweetener in a saucepan and add boiling water to cover. Cover with lid and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain and drink throughout the day.
